I started in a bank as a teenager. Thousands of small transactions. People who needed the deposit to clear.

That job is still the most useful thing I learned. Money is operational, not theoretical. You count it, you explain it, you don’t lose it.

Every company I have run since then has some version of that: get paid, stay approved, don’t surprise the customer.
